Even if most of these films were porn and or PJ-like stuff, that doesn't devalue the point that the Hellboy movies are really good, and Pan's Labyrinth was very much lauded, too. Let's just hope the PJ team in general and Fran Walsh and Philippa Boyens [] in particular don't have much influence on del Toro.

"Really good" is a relative statement when talking about films called "Hellboy." It's hard to believe that New Line isn't going for a better name, given the proven market for Tolkien/LotR: sadly, the suits at New Line seems to have conflated Tolkien with Jackson, thinking that the "Hairball" deserves any kudos for the movie's success beyond its unneeded sensationalism, considering how he flubbed the story's overall moral: which shows that Jackson didn't even read "Letters."

I have my doubts that he even read "Lord of the Rings"...

Bring on THE HOBBIT!

I can't wait!

Del Toro better do a better job than what he did on HELLBOY AND THE GOLDEN ARMY. That was pretty bad.

That's what a nice, soothing salve is for. []

I just watched Pan's Labyrinth for the first time. Wow. Now I'm def looking forward to The Hobbit. I kept wondering what would LOTR would have been had Del Toro directed it.

He's no longer going to direct [] TheOneRing.net reported it today. I'm hoping this will mean Jackson is going to take back over, but they're probably going to look for someone else.

Possibly the financial situation at MGM has something to do with this?

That financial situation has been delaying the plans, which is probably an important part of the reason for Del Toro's decision.

At least he will finish the scripts before leaving.
