As a friend of mine says, "Easter is the last candy holiday" before the sugar-drought days of summer, until Halloween rolls around in late October.

Therefore, this thread is dedicated to those colorful American avian icons of springtime glucose overindulgence: Marshmallow Peeps.

The official Just Born website. Check out the new green Peeps! [] They're sugarlicious, and always fat-free!

Peeps research, funded by the NICH (National Institute for Candy Health)

Even the Epicurious website has caught on to the culinary advantages of Peeps recipes. [warning]Some readers may be disturbed by recipes that begin with the instructions "Decapitate 20 Peeps".[/warning]

I have to try this (from the Wikipedia entry for Peeps):

The messy and largely self-entertaining game, "Peeps Jousting" is played with a microwave. One takes two Peeps, and licks the right-hand side of each until sticky. A toothpick is thereby adhered to each Peep, pointing forward like a jousting lance. The Peeps are then set in a microwave, squared off against one another, and heated up. As they expand, the toothpick lances thrust toward each opponent, and the winner is the one that does not pop and deflate. Both usually are eaten after the competition, however, regardless who the victor was, calling into question the nature of "winning" in such a circumstance.

I can't see the link, WT...is that because it's Peep porno and I'm looking at the thread from work? []

I think I'm going to buy one of those Peeps on the Half-Shell on the way home....

Really? Uh, can anyone else see it?

It's not Peeps Porno - though, now that you mentioned it, that probably exists somewhere on the 'net - just Atrios' cat licking his chops over a pink Peep.

I can't see it either. []

This is one of those occasions when I wish I were American. Twinkies make me very glad that I'm not; peeps just make me envious.

Peeps Eggs are supposed to be a cross between a traditional Peep and a Twinkie (the kreme filling part, anyway). []

No, I will not try one, not even for experimental purposes.

Peep + chocolate eggshell, on the other hand...

And I did receive a box of green Peeps as a gift just the other day. []

Am I the only one who finds Peeps disgusting?

(I don't like marshmallow in general...much less candy-sprinkled marshmallow)

Here's an idea: Don't waste your time posting in threads you're not interested in.

Unless, of course, you have some bizarre compulsion to do so. []

My brothers and I once left a package of open peeps in our parents cubbord for a whole year, Easter - Easter '96-'97. We then used the year old peeps for a number of tests. They were edible, but extremely hardened. In fact, we needed to cut them with a knife. Strangely, they tasted ... ok. From a distance of ten meters, we were able to break a window by throwing one. Another peep actually survived an impact with an aluminum baseball bat, traveling all the way to third base in a little league infield. Lastly, we drove over another one with a car. It was squished.

You need to calm down.
You have no reason to be so hostile.

Gna

What makes you think I'm not interested in a Thread about Peeps?
Growing up, I'd trade my Peeps for jelly beans or other candies with my brother.

Yes, Art, they are a lovely puffy marshmallow. They have absolutely no nutritional value and it is rumored that in some parts of Alaska, people have gotten cancer by merely being within 2 feet of them.

Random: is it possible to make a "w" (double-u) with two "u's"? uu <--guess not. But vv looks like a "w"....they should rename "w" as "double-v"

Peeps are made in Bethlehem, PA (I've been there quite a few times as I have friends who live there) and they're one of the best candies in all the land!
