Varnafindė was conversing with Aikanįro.

"It's very quiet in the Opelė these days," she said. "Do you remember the time when there were lots of newbies in the White City, so many that we decided only to let the well-behaved ones enter the Tea House?"

"I remember it well," Aikanįro answered. "Only we weren't too hard on them, I think - anyone who was well-behaved enough to ask for admission, was granted it. Ack, it's far too quiet now ... On a good day, there would be several pages to read through - now we need several days to fill a page."

"We didn't get many annoying gate-crashers, though," Varnafindė said. "Only one or two, all the rest were well-behaved. And there haven't been any annoying newbies around for ages. It seems unnecessary to have that 'ask before you post'-rule any more. We might as well open the Opelė again, like it was when Elyrka first established it."

"Yes, it started as an open Inn. We could ask the other regulars what they think," Aikanįro suggested. "Even though not all the citizens in our new banner post as regularly as they used to, they are still historically our regulars, and those of them who read the Opelė, should have their say."

So the question was asked in the Opelė (funnily enough, a couple of days after this converse between Varna and Aika, someone else encouraged open Inns also, even though he hadn't heard the converse), and people agreed that the Opelė might just as well be opened again.

The Member's List would then be removed.

But NOT the banner!

 -
( [] to Sherl who made it)

This, then, is The Tea House - An Open Meeting-Place, or, as we say it in Quenya, I Cuiveyulda Opelė: Lįta Omentiė Nomė.

Elyrka Redsmith is the owner of the establishment, but she is on a well-deserved (and very long) break. Varnafindė, Braeden and Sherl have been running the place for her. If you need to talk to Elyrka when she's around you can find her on MSN: oni_kamadaki@hotmail.com - or, you can email her at: starlight.ofdawn@gmail.com.

She has this to say to all visitors:
quote:
Welcome to the Opelė, where everyone is welcome - except Orcs, of course. Come, sit by the fire and have some tea.

Although we welcome one and all, the Opelė is, as you may have guessed, the unofficial home to the Quenya Defenders. If you mock the name of Quenya in here, the management of the Opelė can claim no responsibility for the consequences.

No 'text message' spelling or grammar is to be used in the Opelė. If you cannot take the time to post correctly, please refrain from posting.

And as we've spotted a new member defending Quenya elsewhere on the board, we encourage him to come along for a cup of tea!

---

Latest news, as of end of April 2008:
We're branching off!

There's now an affiliated branch of the Opelė on another board.
We'll comply with the rules and not advertise, but you could always PM me or Aika or Amariė for details (or check their profiles).

We might end up like Starbucks! []

[] [] [] for new open Inn !!

I have nothing Quenya nor interesting to say for now, but I'll stop by from time to time [] I hope the Inn will get more crowded from now []

So that my tea doesn't get cold, I'll take an iced one - and also because I don't like hot tea []

See you all soon then !

Yes, I know, this is not as difficult as in the UP []

To be constructive : have you heard about the soon-to-be-issued Parma Eldalamberon 17 ? Some more Quenya in it (though Quenya is not the focus of this issue) []

*serves iced tea to Inc'*

No, I'm not really following the Parma Eldalamberon issues []

You could tell more about them, perhaps - do they sometimes focus on Quenya?

In honor of the new Quenya or Sindarin thread, I think I should repost the link to my story about how Varna got her name []

So, Eluchil, do you have the table of contents for the Parma Eldalamberon 17?

I like to try to keep up with a little bit of both Quenya and Sindarin- only because my Nśmenórean RP characters speak both languages. []

PE 11 to 16 mainly focused on Qenya and Gnomish.
I read that can be found in PE 17 (about Quenya) possessive pronominal declensions, or conjugations (present) of -a Quenya verbs, among other stuff.
And Vinyar Tengwar 49 was superb for Quenya amateurs.

E: Gna, not yet, PE17 has not yet been officially announced ..; but perhaps you can understand some part of this description (in French)?
E2: I will try to translate and to post it in the north tonight []

Eh, constructiveness is overrated anyhow.

I have been writing about dragons all afternoon. Proof Anne McCaffrey still has a hold over my obsessions...

Excellent new thread, Varna! Complete with mention of Quenya on the first page, to which I unfortunately have nothing useful to add, either.

Dragonriders of Pern stuff. I have periodic obsessions with the series, probably because, well, dragons. []

They're good comfort read books, at least the first half of the series. The later ones get progressively more Mary-Sue-ish.

Party tomorrow! []

Good to know; I read the first half and was briefly inflamed with a passionate obsession with them (my sleep was filled with nightmares of F'nor and Canth at the Red Star [] ) before returning to Tolkien.
[]

I called for tales of dragons and more reading time,
But when the books are finished and I start to tire,
Then falls thy shadow: Tolkien! My heart is thine,
And I am desolate, and sick of an old passion;
Yeah, hungry for the stories I desire.
I have been faithful to thee, Tolkien,
In my fashion.

*applauds* []

Oh, F'nor! I loved him until I realized just how very messed up his relationship with Brekke really is. Rather glad I was too young to quite catch that on my first reading.

Lessa, now, I still adore. []

Anything involving Aramina, F'lessan or the dolphins, however - []

But yes, Tolkien has dragons too, although I don't think it would be too much of a stretch to say I'd rather not run into any of his.

Yes, I'm American.
*wishes he could share some of his RL cooking*

Took a second in back reading, but it clicked before I got to the word Pern. Or Anne Mccaffrey.

I wish I had more time to read these days. I used to average at least one book of something a year. Now I haven't picked up any reading material in months. []

Dragons are cool. I have googled pictures of dragons and browsed for a long time. (instead of going to bed)

Oooh, Dragons. I used to be in a Dragonriders of Pern RP myself. Enjoyed it a lot, but it was just too fast moving for me to keep up with while I was in school. Fun, though!
