Interesting and well thought out as far as I can see except for the fact that the nine walkers also had “Man food”, not just Lembas. The other strange thing is why the authors calculated from Rivendell instead of from Lorien. The journey between them and the time they stayed in Lorien seems irrelevant since they had no Lembas at all until the day they left Lorien.
Someone should calculate how much Sam and Frodo needed to go from Parth Galen to Sammath Naur. Factors to be considered are their level of exertion, losing some of their Lembas in Minas Morgul, and having less than needed to reach Sammath Naur. Other factors are the Coneys they ate, the food they got from Faramir, and the amount of “Man food” they brought with them from Parth Galen if any. (If they had some they ran out on the third evening after leaving the Company.)
Anyone care to undertake this task?
