But the recent Facebook group reminded me just how much I missed you guys. I hate to waste too much space with this thread, but dear god, I forgot how much fun it was being a part of this forum! :-) I want you guys to know how much it meant to me spending time with you, and how much I missed you all! I hope everyone is doing well, and I promise I'll check back and speak with you all! If you want to contact me directly, my email is AndrewRCrisp@gmail.com, and you can find me as Andrew Crisp on Facebook. Love you all!

The posting on the facebook group is what me made me pop back here too. Fun times.
I feel like I did a lot *for* MT, but only ever really got to know a few people here. I have very fond memories of my time on the board though.

Welcome back, fran! Another that I don't think I ever posted with - at least not much ...

You made a lot of the first avatars - were yours the art ones or the movie ones? You got your title of honor that way ...

I remember you, Talan - which is saying something as I don't bother to remember a great deal nowadays. Consider yourself honoured.

I hope your life has been unfolding in interesting and stimulating ways, and that you are still making music.

I did the movie ones, as well as any requests I got. So some of mine are art based ones too. That's how it started, just making them for people who said 'can you make this picture in to an avatar'; I could, so I did.
I believe I made a version of your avatar, Varnafindë, but whether it was the one you ended up using or not, I can't remember! At one time I'd've been able to tell you exactly which ones I did make, but it's been so long my brain has lost all that info.
Fingolfin did the art ones, he's my fellow Captain of Avatars. Was well chuffed when I was awarded that.

I did? Hooray! Glad you liked it.

You made me this one, fran in January 2004. You did a great job with it - the original image was rather difficult to work with
I waited for it for two years, and then I found a calendar (in Parmastahir's calendar thread in the Bag End Auctions) with a portrait (by Henning Janssen) that I felt was much more me. I asked Janssen for permission to use it. He granted it, and sent me a high resolution file of the picture to work with. Silmahtar helped me to get the current version
Just after that, WGW had a little time for giving out avatars, so I got the new one I'm using the same picture in different versions on a few other sites as well these days.

Don't get me wrong. I love a good debate.grew up on them, pursue them as a sport. Just ask Snowdog (poor, long suffering man).... But I swiftly tired of the debates in the North on all manner of Tolkein sites. I find them kinda repetitive: the same debates; the same arguing positions; the same evidence being trotted out. I find the political and theological threads similarly repetitive.
Every so often I forget this and stray in. I soon remember the error of my ways. To each their own, of course.

Sorry for the long silence; a lot has been going on! Maia Olorin, old friend, I'm glad to see you're still kicking around! I think you would not find me as combative a debate partner now, but at the least I hope you shan't find me dull!
I'm currently in hot pursuit of employment after a recent layoff, so I haven't been able to keep in touch as much as I'd hoped, but I'll do everything I can to keep up with you guys. You can hit me up on facebook or my email anytime, and in the interim I'll try to maintain at least a perceptible presence here on the Pony.
I have indeed been making music, though I'm afraid my employment has been elsewhere. Regardless, I'm going to keep trying in that area, and I'll let you guys know if I can ever share any links to my stuff online.
Best wishes, and for the moment,

Hello to all the beloved oldbies - I'm not on here much myself but miss you guys a lot.
I agree about the debates, it does seem that they're mostly played out now. But just so you know, Balrogs don't have wings.

I believe in they have wings, but they aren't very good, like some insect wings! If Balrogs are great big bear-like things, they can't be that aerodynamic at least they don't look it!
