Are you thinking of this? This guy must be wearing a tinfoil hat right now. Quite amusing.

But I do think some of the Obama "cultists" are quite a bit on the creepy side.

I wonder if there are any sad guys wandering around with Dole Kemp 96! tattoed on their hip right now? Besides Grimwulf, I mean. []

Oh Eru... no matter how great Obama is going to turn out, this guy will knock himself in the head for getting this tattoo in a few years. And yes, it's a bit creepy, considering that morons of his age normally get tattoos of the bands the like, i.e. commit their lives to (until the next band with a profound, deep message comes along, that is).

I don't consider this to be a Führerkult, though, as someone suggested a bit back. I think we will rather find that a considerable part of his youth support will turn away once the going gets rough and there's the new cool politician in town. But to his credit, I think Mr Obama is going to be able to deal with that, too.

For the time being, it's probably a great way to woo some college ladies, though. []

Oh God

To even things out, here's a Reagan tattoo.

In many ways I’m optimistic about his presidency but this unquestioning adoration is a bit creepy. Bush didn’t get it when he was first elected. Why the blatant bias?

Well, Freya, what do you expect when reporters marinate in progressivism? [] [] Major newsrooms often have a left-to-right ratio of 2-to-1 or 3-to-1 or 4-to-1 or more. For many reporters, covering a red state is like covering a foreign country — and they don’t know the language.

OTOH, media adoration of Billy Boy Clinton never rose to this level of creepiness. [] [] Back then, the progs just gave their man a little extra attention in private. Now, with this new guy, they sing songs to the Man Who Will Change the World.

Oh well. [] [] When in Rome...

Edit: Correct song link... [] []

Hopefully this diefication doesn't go to Obama's head and make him overly arrogant. I'm all for supporting the man, let's see what he can do before jumping all over him, but this universal ball washing is downright unhealthy. We need watchdogs, we need checks and balances what we don't need is a government and a media contingent full of yes-men and fangirls. I'm just hoping that this is only an infatuation stage and in time he'll be viewed in a more even handed manner.

Yes and no. []

Also, since you posted this in reply to Ney's sarcastic remark about Bush being the worst president ever, I assume you're saying the state of the economy is Bush' fault? If so, I'll point out that a few years ago, the Bush administration and several members of Congress with R's by their names tried to look into the unwise lending practices (which played a major role in bringing us to this point) being used by Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, and were blocked by several other members of Congress with D's by their names.

Now, Bush did make a major blunder in siding with the Congressional D's to push a massive "stimulus package." Like the majority of the American people, I was against that, but nobody back east seemed to be listening... []

Absolutely agreed. As I've said before, I didn't vote for the guy. I just think it's important to point out that there are precedents. I felt the same way (and still do, to some extent) about Reagan-adulation when I was in college. There are examples on both sides -- although I'd agree this Obama craze stuff is as bad as I've seen anything like this since college days.

Is the economy as a whole in catastrophic shape? [] Not as far as I know.

Is the economy as a whole in for some tough times? [] Oh yeah. The worst unemployment is probably ahead, because unemployment is a lagging indicator. That is, increases & decreases in unemployment follow changes in the leading economic indicators by six months or more.

Is more government spending required? [] Not really. Increased government spending just shifts spending from one sector to another, without increasing total production (GDP).

Would an Obama-style “tax cut” help the economy? [] Probably not.

Would a Reagan-style tax cut help the economy? [] Probably.

What the heck is the difference? [] Lower marginal tax rates encourage economic activity. Lower business tax rates & lower capital gains encourage investment. Lowering average taxes just shift spending from one sector to another, without increasing total production (GDP).

What would make things worse? [] Increased government spending. (Government spending is generally less efficient & hence less productive on a dollar-for-dollar basis.) Increased regulation. Increased taxes.

No, not overly, but with a cult following like his it remains a distinct possibilty. But as you said, a certain amount of arrogance is virtually a job requirement.

I'm not interested in Oliver Stone's perspective. The kindest thing I've read about his version of Bush is that he comes off as "a loveable boob." That doesn't sound like my kind of film.

Obama has already been a main character in a Spiderman comic. I'm too lazy to provide a link, but it's true! Like at the inauguration Obama is giving a speech and this shape shifter dude takes his place and Obama helps Spidey catch him or something.

Crazy.

Maha, seriously? [] That's so awesome!!! []

Ney, I've always said, Bush seems like the kind of man I would hang out with, have some beers, go horseback riding or something, but he should have never gone into politics. He isn't very smart, and easily pursuaded. Even if he wanted to do good things for this country, I think he was easily swayed by other people to make really dumb decisions.

FOUND IT!!! This is SO COOL!!!! [] *geeks out*

Well, you can find action figures of Bush easily enough. I won't post them because I don't want to bloat this page any further with repetitive images. Suffice to say that they are out there.

As for comics, I understand Democrats always had an edge with this particular industry. Roosevelt organized some Justice League, Kennedy was aware of Superman's identity (maybe this is why he was killed?), and now Obama comes in as Spiderman's best buddy. Richard Nixon, on the other hand, was depicted as chairman of the Shadow League or something, who is supposed to be the den of evildoers.

Source with more links.

I'm pretty sure the Obamas would rather not have their daughters as much in the spotlight as the loons over at MSNBC want them to.

As for the Bush twins, well, weren't they like 19 years old at the time? I assume there were some industries out there manufacturing Jenna-like dolls out there, but not for kids.

And Chelsea would probably have loved to be turned into a doll, if that would have spared her the insults by the likes of loofah/falafel-fetishist Bill O'Reilly. []

I imagine that will be filled with nuance, subtlety and complexity []

I too think that Bush is a great guy and much maligned by the press, but I can't forgive him for screwing up on Iraq so much. Too few troops and not enough resource, resulting in massive loss of life for our troops and innocent Iraqis. And that was a pretty huge screw up, regardless of how nice a guy he is.
